Website for Tim J Hickey

& 'Nickel Pot Joe'

Tim J Hickey (TimTaps) began acting at age twenty-one, then took up tap dancing at the age of twenty-four after seeing 42nd Street on Broadway and being inspired by Jerry Orbach. He studied dance in Boston, MA at Gold Studios with Rhee and Rennie Gold, then with their mother Sherry, who suggested to him the moniker “Tim Taps”.  He continued studying rhythm-tap with Jimmy “Sir Slyde” Mitchell at Leon Collins' Tappers Paradise, and swing and acrobatic jitterbug with Bob E. Thomas. Tim then began working as a professional entertainer soon after.

'Nickel Pot Joe' is Tim Hickey's swing septet, which plays vintage music of the 20's 30's and 40's in addition to original dance music Tim has written. The band is expandable and includes:

Eric Verlinde - piano; Frank Seeberger - guitar; Mike Barnett - bass; Adam Kessler - drums; Ron Barrow - trumpet;

Bill Anthony - trombone; Nathaniel Paul-Schleimer - reeds;

Tim Hickey uke/vocals

Arrangements by Bob Hammer and Bill Anthony.

See "Book Tim" page for more information on the band.
